The Product

The product we use to clean carpet and upholstery is our own patented cleaning product made from sea kelp. Unlike other "green" products, ours is not vegetable oil based. It is completely organic (made completely from living things with no man made or synthetic components). The kelp, which comes from the pristine waters of Iceland, is converted from raw material to finished product using only naturally occurring phenomenon. This is done using a brewing process, but unlike other brewing processes which produce alcohol, ours produces enzymes and bio-surfactants to act as catalysts in place of chemicals and synthetic surfactants used in other products.

Conventional detergents are designed to release dirt from the surface being cleaned and keep it suspended in water so it can be removed. They do this using synthetic surfactants which are produced using oil (petroleum or vegetable) and alkalis (sodium or potassium hydroxide). They can also be produced using ammonia, sulfur, and soda. In recent years some cleaning products have been made with oxidizers. These are made using sulfur trioxide, ethylene oxide, and sulfuric acid. Although they are not oil based, they are strong bleaching agents and able to cause discoloring to carpet and upholstery fibers.
